Threshold explores the emotional and historical space between belonging and displacement. Drawing on the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade, the work reflects on the moment of crossing—when individuals stood at the edge of an uncertain future, separated from their homeland, culture, and identity. The solitary figure embodies the burden of memory carried across generations, while the surrounding red forms evoke sacrifice, resilience, and ancestral remembrance. Rather than depicting a historical event, the painting inhabits its psychological aftermath, inviting viewers to consider the enduring echoes of loss, survival, and cultural continuity.

My work explores humanity, emotion, and identity through expressive figurative painting. I am interested in capturing the silent emotions people carry within themselves using gesture, texture, and minimal spaces. Inspired by everyday life, music, and personal experiences, my paintings invite viewers into moments of reflection, vulnerability, and emotional connection.
