In this piece Deon tells the short story of a Nigerian activist who was eventually hanged, but before he was hanged the gallows used to hang others lined up for death by the government of the day broke down a few times while he was on the verge of being hanged.
On the side of the man (upside down) representing the prominent activist, Deon represents the struggles of the common Nigerian to that of football players striving to win a ball.
