Odetola Ayodele

Born 2000, Nigeria

Lives and works in Nigeria

Born 2000, Nigeria. Currently based in Nigeria.

With a background in Mechanical Engineering, Odetola Ayodele transitioned fully into visual art, bringing a structural precision to his practice in hyperrealist charcoal portraiture and mixed media. He explores themes of identity, resilience, and the "inherited silence" found within contemporary Nigerian society.

Through highly detailed charcoal renderings, he captures emotionally charged figures that reflect both individual psychological weight and collective realities. Odetola focuses on introspective subjects in states of stillness, using subtle expression and texture to communicate what is often left unspoken. In his recent work, he integrates acrylic elements and African-inspired patterns, such as Ankara textiles, to create a visual dialogue between tradition and present-day identity.

His work continues to resonate with an international audience, with pieces held in private collections across Nigeria and abroad.
